2012 Official Canadian Supreme Art by Paige Albrecht
The Canadian Supreme welcomes the artistry of Paige Albrecht. From a small home near Trochu, Alberta, Paige builds on her collection of work one experience at a time. Inspired by the landscape of the endless prairies, Paige brings life to her one passion - the western lifestyle. Transferred through the simplicity of pencil, the depth and texture of each image is meticulously drawn to enhance each element - a concho, belt buckle, the mane of a horse or the intricate architecture of a well worn saddle - the western lifestyle comes to life through the eyes of Paige Albrecht. Over the years, Paige Albrecht has participated in the Canadian Supreme as a reining competitor, a buyer at the western horse sale and as an exhibitor in the Western Lifestyle Marketplace. Her work is gaining popularity across North America. Today, Paige celebrates the progression of a finished show horse, from the breeding program to a started prospect, finishing with a competitive horse. Paige’s art has been inspired for many years by the trained cutter, cow horse, or reiner. In her eyes they represent the ultimate horse - “The Supreme Horse”. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The goal of the Canadian Supreme is to preserve and promote the useful training traditions of the western horseman. The performance-oriented enthusiast of the California-style does not necessarily look to any particular breed of horse but rather for the animals with cow "savvy" and, at the same time, one that responds to the demands of the rider. |
