Gerry Hansma & Caught Me Lookin

Gerry Hansma was born and raised in Granum, Alberta. The Hansma farm near Granum, was the scene of much serious performance horse activity during the years when Hans and Henny Hansma were in the process of raising their family of five sons. Today the property is the home of Hansma Performance Horses run by trainer Gerry and his wife Sandy, an accomplished barrel racer and non pro cutter.

Gerry Hansma & Rocanna Dude

An involvement with horses started early in life for Gerry from when he started riding ponies and progressed to horses. He went through the 4-H program, gymkhana horses, hunters and jumpers, halter and pleasure, working cow horses, reining and then to cutting horses. He won working cow horse futurities, hackamore and bridle classes. Gerry has been involved in the cutting horse division for many years.

A successful trainer and open competitor at top cutting venues like the Canadian Supreme, Gerry has also had some notable success south of the 49th parallel at contests like the Sun Coast Winter Championships in Las Vegas and Ogden, Utah. His notable wins include being a 3-time NCHA Western National Champion in the Open Division, $10,000 Novice Horse NCHA Western National Champion and the Canadian Cutting Horse Association Novice Horse Champion. Some of the outstanding horses Gerry has trained and shown include: Sonitas Bo San, Rated PG, Genuine Sand Flake, Smart Little Baggins and Caught Me Lookin.

Gerry would like to thank his many good customers and his great wife, Sandy, for their support!!
