Genuine Peppy - Stallion - 2003 Inductee
This special stallion was foaled in 1980 as part of Matlock Rose's outstanding breeding program. His sire is Genuine Doc; an own son of the great Doc Bar and his dam is Pep's Holly one of the best producing daughters of Peppy San. He was a finalist in the 1983 NCHA Non Pro Futurity, finishing seventh. With very limited showing he qualified for the '85 AQHA World Show, where he placed third in Senior Cutting.
Truman Kennedy purchased Genuine Peppy ("Jeepers") in 1984 and brought him to Canada in 1988. He has earned the AQHA Register of Merit, the NCHA Certificate of Ability, the NCHA Bronze Award, the CCHA Bronze Award, and the CCHA Silver Award. With Les Timmons riding he was the CCHA Open Reserve Champion in 1989 and the CCHA Open Champion in 1990.
Retired to stud his superior breeding is proving itself in his foals, combining conformation, intelligence and athletic ability. Ever since his first foal, Genuine Dolly, won the 1991 Canadian Supreme Futurity, marking 150, he has provided the equine industry with a continuous supply of Champions, Reserve Champions and Finalists. Some of these are Jeepers Lil Smoke, Jeepers Holly, Wee Be Genuine, Genuine Blue Eyes, Lanas Genuine Peppy, Genuine Ime Sure,
Genuine Peppy is on the NCHA top 100 Sires list, he has won the Canadian Super Stakes Sire Award three times and the Canadian Super Stakes Non Pro Sire Award three times.
Although we have seen most of his foals in the " cutting pen" they are also performing well in Reining, snaffle bit, barrel racing, and even roping. Genuine Peppy is the Canadian Supreme All Time Leading Sire in All Disciplines combined, cutting, reining, and snaffle bit.
In the 2001 Canadian Supreme show Genuine Gina, owned by Marion Stav and ridden by John Swales was the Canadian Supreme Open Hackamore and Open Hackamore Derby Champion.
In the 2002 Canadian Supreme show, Genuine Mia Maria was Reserve champion in the Canadian Supreme open cutting futurity, Jeepers Diamond, owned by Betty Manuel and ridden by Rick Hook was Canadian Supreme Open Maturity reserve Champion and Jeepers Lil Wrangler owned by G.E. Forge & Tool Inc. and ridden by Vance Kalea was Canadian Supreme Open Snaffle Bit Futurity Reserve Champion.
