DFL Hickory D Or - Mare - 2009 Inductee

DFL Hickory D Or

Like a lot of things, my purchase of DFL Hickory D Or was more good luck than good management. She was foaled by Bob and Mary Lynn Zirnhelt May 30, 1994 and was part of Doc Freckles Leo's second foal crop. Danny Morrison in Prince George started her and asked me to trailer her back to Zirnhelts. One look at her was all it took.

After buying her, I sent her to Rick Hook to train. From day one she showed a great deal of talent, natural cow sense and a huge heart. In her three year old year, Rick was Open Reserve Champion at the BCCHA Futurity, I was Reserve Non Pro Futurity Champion at the Canadian Supreme and $50,000 Amateur Futurity Co-Champion at the PCCHA in Los Angeles.

She continued to perform well as a 4, 5 and 6 year old with many final appearances and championships. She retired sound with NCHA earnings of $29,000.

I bred her as a 6 year old to Smart Lil Player with Hicks First Player as a result. He has been a multiple aged champion in both Open and Non Pro divisions with LTE to date of $96,175.

She has had three other show foals to date including HFL Ultimate Cross LTE $12,774; Hicks Last Fox (2006 Canadian Supreme Open Futurity Champion) LTE $14,700; Shes A Player Too (2007 Canadian Supreme Open Futurity Champion and 2007 Reserve Open to the World Champion) LTE $35,631. To date she has produced off spring earnings in excess of $159,000.

It is a great honour to have this mare nominated to the Canadian Supreme Hall of Fame.
